Green Doctor service available for Slough residents

Groundwork Thames Valley has worked with Slough Borough Council and People 1st Slough to introduce a free wide-ranging service for homes across the borough. The service is called 'The Green Doctor' because it aims to improve the health of homes in Slough by addressing key environmental issues.

What are the benefits?

  • Free energy saving measures - provided by the Green Doctor or associated agencies,
  • Improved energy awareness - benefitting the whole community by reducing carbon emissions,
  • Financial savings - eligible Slough residents will have cheaper utility bills.

How does it work?

For eligible residents, the Green Doctor will visit your home and make a thorough assessment of the entire house, including appliances, radiators and the loft. If needed, he will also install FREE some or all of the following: 

  • low energy light bulbs,
  • reflective radiator panels,
  • draught proofing,
  • hot water tank jacket,
  • appliance 'power down' units,
  • electricity 'smart meters'.

Larger-scale measures (eg cavity wall and loft insulation) can be arranged by the Doctor to be installed at a later date.

Groundwork Thames Valley hopes to be able to offer home security measures (eg door and window locks) in the near future if funding allows.
